Week 1 of the college football season is nearly a wrap (we still await Florida State vs. Boston College on Monday night). But with 99% of the games in the books, Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon leads the nation in rushing missed tackles forced with 13, according to Pro Football Focus.
PFF shared the stat on Monday morning on social media.
Ollie Gordon opened up the 2024 college football season with 27 carries for 104 yards and two touchdowns in Oklahoma State’s 44-20 win over reigning FCS Champion South Dakota State. He also had four receptions for 42 yards and a score.
Gordon is arguably the best running back in college football after a 2023 campaign in which he racked up over 1,600 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns. He finished the 2023 season as the Doak Walker Award winner and was a Unanimous All-American. His 282 rushing yards against WVU and 271 rushing yards against Cincinnati marked the most rushing yards for an OSU player in a two-game span (553) since Heisman-winner Barry Sanders posted 625 yards against Iowa State and Texas Tech in 1988.
The Cowboys are 1-0 on the season and get set for Arkansas in Week 2. The Oklahoma State Cowboys plan to stripe the stadium on Saturday.
The Cowboys made the announcement on social media on Monday morning as fans start turning their attention to Week 2 of the college football season with the Big 12 vs. SEC match ups one of the best in the early kick off slot this Saturday.
