On Tuesday, Oklahoma State offensive lineman Jason “Queso” Brooks Jr. entered the transfer portal as a graduate transfer.

“I will be entering the transfer portal as a graduate transfer and eligible for recruitment starting October 1st, two weeks from today,” Brooks said on X.

Coming out of Dobie High School in the Class of 2020, Brooks was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 1131st-ranked player. He also checked in as the 69th-ranked player at his position and the 139th-ranked player in the state of Texas.

Brooks committed to Vanderbilt coming out of high school, choosing the Commodores over offers from 13 different schools, including Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, North Texas, UNLV, and more. He elected to transfer to Oklahoma State in 2022 and played in 11 of the team’s 13 games. Heading into ’23, Brooks was one of the team’s top linemen before suffering an injury halfway through the season.

In 2024, Brooks still didn’t feel right about his knee, which led both parties to agree to sit him and take a redshirt season.

“I don’t think he really felt good with his knee and wasn’t comfortable,” Mike Gundy said. “He came to us and said that he felt like he wanted to sit this year. We would have played him by now if he would have been active and playing.”

He now enters the portal in hopes of landing with a new team in the near future.
