The Dallas Cowboys have apparently decided to make former Kansas State star Cooper Beebe their starting center for the 2024 NFL season.
The news began circulating on social media on Saturday afternoon since Beebe was not set to play in the Cowboys final preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers. The majority of NFL starters do not play in the final preseason game.
Beebe was battling Brock Hoffman to replace Tyler Biadasz, the starting center the past three seasons before departing for the Washington Commanders in free agency. Hoffman started the first two preseason games, but after the first game, Beebe was given first-team snaps in practice.
At Kansas State, Beebe played every position on the offensive line but center. Since the draft, he has reportedly worked at perfecting his snaps at the position.
“It’s become second nature,” he said. “I just know unless they say something to me, it was a good snap. So I really don’t try to worry about it anymore.”
Beebe was a standout at Kansas State, being named a three-time First-Team All-Big 12 selection from 2021 to 2023. He was also the Big 12 offensive lineman of the year in 2022 and 2023, while being named a unanimous All-American in 2023.
Beebe was then selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft with the No. 73 pick by the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys open their season Sunday, September 8th on the road against the Cleveland Browns.
