On Saturday afternoon, 14th-ranked Oklahoma State will play host to No. 12 Utah in what should be one of the most important Big 12 games of the season.
The Utes and Cowboys were both picked to finish among the top three in the Big 12 Preseason Media Poll, and now both of them have jumped out to 3-0 records in nonconference play.
This game has had a ton of action already from a betting perspective and it appears the big money disagreed with the line setters in Vegas on how this game will play out.
According to Wager Talk, the matchup opened with Oklahoma State as a 1.5-point favorite at home. However, as of Monday afternoon, 90% of the money is coming in on Utah, and 92% of the tickets are taking Utah to cover.
It’s an incredibly lopsided line, as Vegas ideally wants a 50/50 split, and it’s been so lopsided that we’ve actually seen the line move over even and actually favor Utah at this point, with some books favoring the Utes by as much as 2.5. The consensus line right now is -2.0 points in Utah’s favor, so this will definitely be one to check in on later in the week.
Whether Utah quarterback Cam Rising plays will significantly impact this game and probably the line once we have a better idea of his availability. If he can’t go, Isaac Wilson would get the start after tossing for three scores against Utah State last week.
Meanwhile, Oklahoma State has found its offense through the air over the past couple of weeks rather than via Ollie Gordon. In last week’s 45-10 win over Tulsa, Alan Bowman completed 24 of 31 attempts for 396 yards and five touchdowns.
The Pokes and Utes will kick off at 3:00 p.m. CT from Stillwater, with FOX covering the game.
