Noah Fifita Leads Top Five Big 12 Heisman Contenders for 2024

NCAA Football: Arizona at Utah

The Big 12 consists of some of the best players in college football and with the 2024 season just about two months away, On3’s Jesse Simonton released his Top Five Big 12 Heisman Contenders.

After a strong freshman season with Arizona, QB Noah Fifita returns for his sophomore campaign and came in at No. 1 on the list. The 5-foot-11 signal caller threw for 2,869 passing yards and 25 touchdowns in 2023 to lead the Wildcats to a 10-3 record.

Fifita does not turn the ball over much, as he threw just six interceptions last season and completed 72.4% of his passes.

Despite missing three games last season with an injury, wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter returns for Colorado and expectations are very high. The two-way star hauled in 31 tackles and three interceptions on the defensive side of the ball.

As a receiver, the 6-foot-1 rising junior had 721 receiving yards and five touchdowns, placing him at No. 2.

Kansas QB Jalon Daniels, Kansas State QB Avery Johnson, and Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon II round out the top five.

Daniels missed a majority of the 2023 season with an injury, but in 2022 he led Kansas to its first bowl game since 2008.

With former K-State quarterback Will Howard transferring to Ohio State, the keys to the offense have been given to Johnson. Wildcats fans got a glimpse of what the rising sophomore can do as he led the team to a bowl victory over NC State.

In the win, the budding sophomore threw for 178 yards and totaled three touchdowns.

Gordon returns for the Cowboys as one of the best running backs in the country. In his sophomore season, he ran for 1,732 yards and 21 touchdowns. The offensive weapon ran for over 115 yards in eight games in 2023.
