On Wednesday night, three-star Class of 2025 prospect Jay Gardenhire committed to the Colorado Buffaloes over Pitt, Marshall, FAU, and Boston College, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Gardenhire became the fifth commit under head coach Deion Sanders in the 2025 cycle along with offensive lineman Chauncey Gooden, cornerback Alex Graham, linebacker Mantrez Walker, and tight end Corbin Laisure.
The future Buffalo played his first three seasons of high school football with DePaul Prep in Wayne, New Jersey, but will play his senior season in Michigan for West Bloomfield High School.
Listed at 6-foot-8, Gardenhire is ranked as the 145th best OT in the country by 247Sports and the 44th best prospect in the state of Michigan.
Colorado is set to begin its first season back in the Big 12 Conference after struggling in 2023, finishing 4-8.
The Buffaloes started the season off with a 3-0 start before losing eight of their last nine games, but star quarterback Shedeur Sanders and wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter will be back in action for CU in 2024.
Deion Sanders and company will be taking on North Dakota State at home on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 8 p.m. EST on ESPN, before traveling to Lincoln to for a rematch with the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Week 2 of the college football season.
