On Saturday, Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark joined FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff pregame show to discuss the status of the league ahead of the 2024 season.

Yormark discussed the four new additions—Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah—and also touched on expansion talks with UConn.

“We’re blessed to have the four corners with us, and when you have big brands, that leads to greater parity and depth in the conference,” Yormark said.”I think that was indicative when you think of the Preseason AP Top 25. We had five in there, the first time since 2017. So I’m thrilled with our depth, and that depth starts right here in Morgantown.”

Yormark then spoke about what a West Virginia win over Penn State would mean for the Big 12, saying, “I think it further credentializes us as a big-time conference. Listen, it’s not about one game, but that would set the tone for the season.”

Then, when asked about exploring expansion with the UConn Huskies, Yomark elected not to highlight a specific program.

“I can’t speak specifically about schools, but it’s incumbent on me as the commissioner to create value when I see it,” Yormark said. “Big brands, big markets, big fanbases matter, so we’ll see what happens.”

The Big 12 continues to explore opportunities to create value under Brett Yormark, and if adding the Huskies to the league’s ranks increases revenue, the Big 12 will surely consider the addition.
