Jahiem White Suffers Injury vs. Penn State

NCAA Football: Big 12 Football Media Days

In a tough break for Neal Brown and the West Virginia Mountaineers, rising star running back Jahiem White headed for the locker room early during the second quarter.

During a rep in pass protection, White collided with a Penn State defensive lineman and dropped to the ground, favoring his shoulder.

Last season with the Mountaineers, White posted some impressive numbers as a true freshman. The Pennsylvania native recorded 109 carries for 842 yards and four scores in his debut season. Despite splitting carries with veteran back CJ Donaldson, White averaged an unreal 7.7 yards per carry.

An underrated gem in his recruiting class, White checked in as a three-star prospect on the 247Sports index. He was listed as the 673rd-ranked player in his class, the 44th-ranked running back, and the 11th-ranked player in the state of Pennsylvania.

If White remains sidelined for the remainder of the matchup, the bulk of the workload will fall in the capable hands of CJ Donaldson. The junior back was one of three 700-yard rushers suiting up for the Mountaineers in 2023, alongside White and quarterback Garrett Greene.

Despite trailing Jahiem White in rushing yards, Donaldson found the end zone significantly more than White. Donaldson Jr. recorded 171 carries for 798 yards and 11 touchdowns while averaging 4.7 yards per carry.

West Virginia trails Penn State at the half 20-6.
