UCF vs. New Hampshire was never supposed to be a competitive football game — after all, the Knights were favored by 38.5 points going into the contest.
However, that doesn’t take away from the fact that RJ Harvey and the rest of the UCF backfield had a historic night on the ground en route to a 57-3 victory over the visiting Wildcats.
Harvey, a senior captain for this team, led the Knights with 142 rushing yards and two scores in the contest — 111 of which came in the first half.
He was far from the only player to find major success in the running game on Thursday night, though, as UCF combined for a gaudy 454 yards on the ground, finishing just seven yards shy of setting a new school record that’s remained undisturbed since 1992.
Here’s a look at the output from the Knight’s top four running backs on the evening.
- RJ Harvey: 11 rushes, 142 yards (12.9 ypc), 2 TD
- Peny Boone: 7 rushes, 81 yards (11.6 ypc), 1 TD
- Myles Montgomery: 8 rushes, 77 yards (9.6 ypc), 1 TD; 1 rec, 49 yards, 1 TD
- Johnny Richardson: 7 rushes, 40 yards (5.7 ypc); 1 rec, 22 yards, 1 TD
UCF’s quarterbacks also combined for 99 yards on 18 attempts (5.5 ypc) and one touchdown on the night. The Knight’s passing game was certainly slow on the evening, with KJ Jefferson going just 7-of-14 for 164 yards and two touchdowns (one INT), but with a running attack of this pedigree, there’s not too much to be concerned about with the offense for now.
