Five things TCU fans need to know about Minnesota

TCU is finally on the Big 12′s Air Raid bandwagon, but its first test of the year comes against an old-school, Big Ten school that will present a challenge the Horned Frogs will need to adjust to. Here are a few things to watch as TCU faces Minnesota:

Minnesota Golden Gophers

Current record: 2-0

2013 record: 8-5

Key Number: 16. Minnesota returned 16 starters from last year’s team, whose 8-5 record was the best under coach Jerry Kill.

1. Defensive deficiency? It’s early in the season, but Minnesota’s defense is falling behind in the Big Ten. The Golden Gophers have allowed 854 yards through two games, a 427-yard average that is 13th in the conference, ahead of just Rutgers. The pass defense has been the big issue, allowing 282.5 yards per game this season. While Eastern Illinois and Middle Tennessee were able to move the ball with ease, they couldn’t necessarily put it in the end zone.  Three touchdowns have come through the air as the Gophers have allowed just 22 points per game.
