Mike Gundy rarely gives a dull press conference, and after the Oklahoma State Cowboys beat South Dakota State in Week 1 on Sunday, he lived up to those expectations.
Gundy was asked about helmet communications, which are new for college football staffs this season. And after confirming he does not hear the communications between the offensive coaching staff and quarterback Alan Bowman, Gundy weaved in a Connor Stalions reference, and then a Shaggy reference.
Mike Gundy is already in midseason form for his press conferences.
And clearly, the head coach is feeling good after handling the defending FCS champions 44-20 in Stillwater on Saturday. Ollie Gordon led the way with 27 carries for 104 yards and two touchdowns, while quarterback Alan Bowman threw for 267 yards and three scores on the day.
The Pokes also played a clean game with zero turnovers and one penalty. They jumped out to a 10-0 first quarter lead thanks to Alan Bowman finding Brennan Presley to finish off a seven-play, 47-yard drive. An Ollie Gordon touchdown run in the second quarter made it 17-3 and the Cowboys took a 17-6 lead into halftime, before comfortably rolling through the second half.
Oklahoma State is now 1-0 and will host the Arkansas Razorbacks in Week 2 with kick off set for 11:00 a.m. CST in Stillwater.
