Former NFL All-Pro Players Says ACC Team Has ‘Too Many White Dudes’

NCAA Football: William & Mary at Virginia

After Clemson got smoked by Georgia 34-3 on Saturday in Week 1 of the college football season, there was plenty of criticism of Dabo Swinney and the Tigers’ program. But once critique in particular stood out on social media.

Former NFL All-Pro wide receiver Roddy White took to X and said part of Clemson’s problem is that, in his opinion, they have “too many white dudes”.

The backlash against White was pretty swift on social media.

Dabo Swinney has been a target for some given his inability to adjust to the transfer portal and NIL era, along with him wearing his Christianity on his sleeve. The ridiculousness of that being a target is symptomatic of our culture, but it’s just given his critics another reason to target him as a punching bag.

Clemson started the season at No. 14 in the AP Poll, but after Saturday’s performance, expect to see the Tigers dip at least a couple of spots. However, the game also made it clear that the Bulldogs will be a force to be reckon with in the SEC, and in the National Title race. And thus far, their Preseason No. 1 ranking looks well deserved.

Clemson is back on the field next Saturday against Appalachian State.
