On Thursday, FOX Sports’ Joel Klatt made his pick for the 2024 Big 12 Championship Game.
Klatt believes the two teams facing off in Arlington will be the Utah Utes and the Kansas Jayhawks, with the Utes emerging victorious.
“In the Big 12 I’ve got Utah playing, wait for it, Kansas,” Klatt said. “If you really look at what Kansas is and what their schedule is, there is a good chance that Kansas is going to be a top-two seed in the Big 12.”
The Jayhawks have gotten a lot of love from members of the media this offseason, with some even labeling them as one of the biggest dark-horse threats in the Big 12 Conference. Their stock rests in the balance of veteran quarterback Jalon Daniels, who has to stay on the field for the team to live up to Klatt’s lofty expectations.
Klatt finished his thoughts by saying, “I’m going to ride with Utah. You know that about me. Kyle Whittingham is an excellent coach, and when Cam Rising is their starting quarterback, what do they do? They win the conference, and they go play in a big bowl. That’s what they did in the Pac-12.”
With Utah favored to win the Big 12 and Kansas expected to finish fourth, Klatt’s predictions have a real shot at coming true. Still, both teams will have to weather the storm in one of the nation’s most competitive conferences to earn their way to Arlington.
