Utah’s veteran quarterback Cam Rising is out for the rest of the game against Baylor due to a hand injury.
Rising was running out of bounds while getting chased by a Baylor defender and tried to throw the ball away. He lost control and ran into the sideline cooler and then went on to grab his throwing hand. Rising needed an X-ray on his hand after the play.
Rising was seen on the sidelines in street clothes for the second half of the game.
Backup quarterback Isaac Wilson came into the game in Rising’s place.
Wilson threw two interceptions in his first action against Southern Utah in Week 1. He was rated the No. 21 overall quarterback and a four-star recruit in the Class of 2024.
Utah took a 23-3 lead into halftime against the Baylor Bears as the two teams meet in a non-conference match up, despite the Utes joining the Big 12 Conference this season. The teams had scheduled this match up years ago and did not want to complicate schedules but removing this game from their 2024 schedule.
Utah was picked by media to win the Big 12 Conference in 2024, and a multi-week loss of Rising would play a big role in the Big 12 race this season.
