While Colorado head coach Deion Sanders posted pictures from the hospital with his son Shilo Sanders, a timetable regarding his return was not shared at the time.

On Tuesday, Colorado updated college football fans regarding Shilo’s health as he recovers from a broken forearm suffered vs. Nebraska.

“Colorado coach Deion Sanders confirms safety Shilo Sanders underwent arm surgery Sunday,” ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg wrote. “Said he woke up from surgery and said he was ready to play this week (he won’t, obviously). Shilo Sanders is expected to miss 2-3 weeks, per Deion Sanders, who notes his son is a very fast healer.”

Sanders exited the Week 2 contest with an injury before the scoreboard got too out of reach. The buffaloes struggled on both sides of the ball against the Cornhuskers, leaving Lincoln with a 1-1 record and a 28-10 loss.

Sanders wasn’t the only player injured in the matchup, either. His brother Shedeur exited the contest with two minutes remaining and caught some heat for heading to the locker room early.

“I think Hardge did something with his foot on one of the punts,” Deion Sanders said following a Week 2 loss. “Shilo, I think, suffered a — I don’t know the extent of the injury, but I know he did something to his forearm that put him out for the rest of the game. Chidoze, I think it’s an AC joint or something like that. I think he’s going to be alright, I think he’s going to consequently play this upcoming week. I don’t know about Shilo.”

With the 2-3 week timeline, Sanders’ return would either be against the UCF Knights in Week 5 or against No. 14 Kansas State in Week 6. Prior to that, Sanders will cheer on his teammates as they get set for a Week 3 matchup against their in-state rival, Colorado State.
