The betting public is all over Arizona State at home vs. Mississippi State for their Week 2 college football match up.
The opening spread was Sun Devils -2. That line has moved to Arizona State -6.5.
However, here’s what’s even more interesting. According to WagerTalk, 80% of the bets are coming in on Mississippi State. That means the big money is all in on the Sun Devils in this match up, while the Average Joe bettor is favoring the Bulldogs.
This should come as no surprise given the SEC bias that exists amongst most casual college sports bettors who will take in the traditional media outlets who will feed them nothing but non-stop “SEC is Amazing!” propaganda.
Arizona State Prepares for Mississippi State
Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham is already hyping up this match up and challenging his students to show up and break the record for student attendance at a Sun Devils football game.
On Monday, Dillingham said, “We’re going to break the student attendance record this week.”
In Saturday’s 48-7 win over Wyoming, Arizona State had the second-largest student attendance since 2010 at 13,698, the university said. The mark was less than 400 shy of the record set in 2013 when the Sun Devils hosted UCLA.
“We’ve never won an SEC game in Arizona State history,” the head coach said. “So we need a sold out crowd with the biggest student section that there’s ever been. We need it loud for four quarters all night long next Saturday.”
Overall attendance was announced at 48,108 for the game. Stadium capacity for Mountain America Stadium is 53,599.
Suddenly, this becomes one of the most intriguing games in the Big 12 this weekend. Arizona State vs. Mississippi State kicks off at 9:30 p.m. CST.
