Bedlam Basketball Gets Update About Future Nonconference Matchup

Oklahoma Sooners guard Milos Uzan (12) tries to get past Oklahoma State Cowboys guard Javon Small (12) during a Bedlam college basketball game between the University of Oklahoma Sooners (OU) and the Oklahoma State Cowboys (OSU) at Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Okla., Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024. Oklahoma won 66-62.

According to a report from Action Network’s Brett McMurphy, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State have agreed to play a non-conference basketball game at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City on December 14.

This report corroborates one from Jon Rothstein last month that stated the game would be played on this date in Oklahoma City, which also states that it would be played in the Paycom Center, the home of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The two sides have long agreed to continue the basketball series despite Oklahoma leaving the Big 12 for the SEC over the summer.

Since 1916, Oklahoma has led the all-time series record in men’s basketball with a record of 143-107. The Sooners have won 19 of the last 36 meetings. However, the Cowboys have gone 11–5 against the Sooners since the end of Travis Ford’s tenure as head coach.

December’s Bedlam matchup will mark the first time since 1956-57 that the matchup has been a non-conference game. While the Sooners lead the overall series, the Cowboys have a 9-7 advantage when playing at a neutral site.
