After some tough outings in the first two weeks of the season, Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders needed a bounce-back performance.
In their Week 3 matchup against North Texas, the Red Raiders scored 52 points, the most in a single half since 2005.
Led by junior quarterback Behren Morton, the Red Raiders put some life back into the Texas Tech sidelines. Morton tossed 271 yards and four scores through the air in the first half and also ran for a score.
Morton and the Red Raiders also returned their star running back Tahj Brooks from injury, who quickly reminded the country about his impressive skillset. Brooks notched 17 carries for 109 yards and a score, while averaging 6.4 yards per carry.
Texas Tech would have to come out swinging in the second half if they hope to make it to the century mark on the scoreboard. Should the team post 48 or more points in the second half of action, that would be the first 100-point game since the 2000s where one team accomplished the feat in ten years.
Since 1950, there have been a total of 10 100-point games and 259 100-point games all-time.
Texas Tech leads North Texas at the half 52-7.
