Baylor Gets Colorado’s Aaronette Vonleh In Transfer Portal
The Baylor Bears women’s basketball team picked up a significant transfer portal addition on Wednesday as center Aaronette Vonleh committed to the Bears.
The 6-foot-3 product of West Linn., Ore., announced her commitment on Instagram.
The commitment is significant for a couple of reasons. First, Vonleh was named All-Pac 12 last season. Second, she played at Colorado, so the Bears are snagging interior help from the Buffaloes, who return to the Big 12 in July.
She helped the Buffs reach the Sweet 16 last month, which included a win over Kansas State in the second round on K-State’s home floor.
Vonleh averaged 14.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game last season. She transfers with one year of eligibility remaining, but still has her redshirt.
As a sophomore at Colorado she was named the Pac-12 Co-Most Improved Player and Pac-12 Honorable Mention. She started her career at Arizona, where she played her freshman season and averaged 4.1 points and 1.6 rebounds.
Vonleh joins a program in need of her talent inside. Two of the Bears’ top rebounders, Aijha Blackwell and Dre’Una Edwards, are out of eligibility. Their tallest player, 6-foot-7 Lety Vasconcelos, their only Class of 2023 recruit, is in the transfer portal.
Baylor is coming off its third season under coach Nicki Collen, who took the Bears to the Sweet 16 for the first time under her leadership and for the first time since Kim Mulkey’s last season in 2020-21.
