Despite TCU’s massive win against rival SMU, coach Gary Patterson felt there were plenty of things his team could improve on after the 56-0 destruction of the Mustangs. Here are some quotes from him and his team from after the game:
TCU COACH GARY PATTERSON
On the play and energy of Trevone Boykin and the offense early:
Patterson: “Just the emotion, there just wasn’t any. You’re only playing your third game in eight weeks, you’d think you’d be fired up. I don’t care where it is, who you’re playing, what it is. I mean, I was. I’ve been doing it 33 years.”
On what caused the issues:
Patterson: “Offense we just didn’t play very well. We hadn’t played in a long time, we have to have more sense of urgency. One of the things that happened is we were down three offensive linemen. Tayo Fabuluje tightened up his back and he didn’t play the whole game. We left Matt Pryor home because of an injury and Bobby Thompson because of player policy, broke a team rule, so he was suspended for a ballgame, so we had to move tight ends to tackles. Paul Dawson also didn’t start and didn’t play most of the first half because of team policy because he broke a team rule last night at the hotel. Jonathan Anderson played just find.”
