On Saturday, Kansas State quarterback Avery Johnson joined ESPN’s College GameDay broadcast ahead of the Wildcats’ Week 2 matchup vs. Tulane.
During the interview, Pat McAfee questioned Johnson about his hair, which went viral on social media.
With heavy rain forecasted for New Orleans, Johnson was seen walking around Yulman Stadium in a hoodie. McAfee asked Johnson if he had cut his hair ahead of the matchup, prompting the K-State quarterback to show off his golden locks.
Kansas State earned ESPN coverage with a sneaky good Week 2 matchup against the Tulane Green Wave. Both teams are riding high off of blowout wins in their 2024 debuts and will clash in one of the best games of the Week 2 slate.
In his first outing, Johnson posted 190 total yards and a touchdown to interception ratio of 2-1. The Kansas native had some help from two other members from the Sunshine State, DJ Giddens and Dylan Edwards, who both found success in the rushing attack.
The rushing duo posted 167 yards on 18 carries, averaging 9.3 yards per carry. Despite playing just 10 offensive snaps, Edwards found the end zone twice on the day, once through the air and once on the ground.
Johnson, Giddens, and Edwards will need to have a big day in Week 2 in order to keep the Wildcats in the win column. The game between Kansas State and Tulane kicks off at 11:00 a.m. CT, live from New Orleans.
