One of the biggest names in the Class of 2026, four-star tight end Ian Premer, is the top-ranked player in the state of Kansas.
Three Big 12 teams, Kansas, Kansas State, and Iowa State, have been heavily pursuing the Kansas native.
According to a report from On3’s Chad Simmons, Premer took spring practice visits to Kansas, Kansas State, and Nebraska and returned to all three schools in the summer for camps. Kansas, Kansas State, and Nebraska have all hosted the Kansas native twice, and Iowa State hosted a camp in Ames, which the impressive tight end visited.
Coming out of Great Bend High School in the Class of 2026, Premer is listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 65th-ranked prospect. He also checks in as the fourth-ranked player at his position and the top-ranked player in the state of Kansas.
“Visits are really important to me because that is when you get a feel for the school and get to experience what it would be like to play there and go to school there,” Premer said. “On the phone, you can talk with coaches and get a feeling, but visits are different. In-person is different and a little more real for me, so each visit is important.”
Premer has already scheduled game visits to Kansas State, Nebraska, Kansas, and Iowa State. The four-star pass catcher will visit K-State for the season opener on August 31st vs. UT Martin, Nebraska on September 6th vs. Colorado, Kansas on September 28th vs. TCU, and Iowa State on October 5th vs. Baylor.
“It is still pretty early for me. My plan is to hit schools I am more interested in for fall visits. Some schools farther away may be difficult to get to, but I want to see as many schools as I can, then talk with my family and coaches and narrow it down to somewhere around six to eight schools. Then, I will take official visits in the spring and summer and try to come to my decision.”
While the three teams listed above will still have to beat out some impressive programs to land the Kansas native, if his visit schedule tells fans anything, it’s that each program is a team to watch in his recruitment.
