Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are one of the biggest stories in college football, and while their on-field drama certainly plays a role in the program’s popularity, it’s generally the off-field antics that make the headlines.

That is the case in this most recent round of content coming out of Boulder, Colorado, as it appears the Buffaloes’ culture is likened to that of “Fight Club,” except it’s not much of a secret.

There have been rumors about a toxic culture building within the walls of Folsom Field. Hearing about those rumors is one thing — seeing it is another.

In a recent interview with Athlon Sports’ Steve Corder, ex-Colorado assistant coach Trevor Reilly revealed he got into a physical altercation with graduate assistant Josh Jynes.

Now, Athlon Sports has obtained the footage, and throughout the video, you can hear Buffs’ assistant coach, Warren Sapp, narrating the ordeal.

According to the report, it’s unclear whether this incident was reported to university authorities or human resources. Why is that important? Well, since the University of Colorado is a public university, the Buffs’ graduate assistant who is involved in the fight is a state employee.

In Athlon Sports’ story on the matter, Corder spells out just how serious it could be for Coach Prime and his staff if this incident wasn’t properly reported to authorities.

“The University of Colorado is a public institution,” Corder writes. “As such, Sanders could be disciplined or fired by the university for ‘Failing to immediately report to the Athletics Director serious student-athlete or Football staff misconduct Sanders knew or should have known about,’ according to his contract.”

Athlon reached out to Colorado to comment on the incident, and their attempt garnered a response.

“CU Athletics is aware of an incident involving two staff members, one of whom is no longer employed at the university,” the Colorado athletic department told Athlon via email. “The incident has been addressed internally and we have no further comment.”

This is just the latest in a long list of incidents under Sanders’ watch, some of which have been caught on camera and others via eyewitness testimony.

“It’s like a real-life Grand Theft Auto video game,” a former player told Athlon. “There are many distractions with fights, guns, and money floating around. The environment is unlike any I’ve come from before.”

Colorado is on the road this week and will face Nebraska at 6:30 p.m. CT on NBC (Peacock). The Buffs are currently 5.5-point underdogs, down from a 7.0-point line at open.
