Following Colorado’s tough Week 2 loss against Nebraska, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders had a lot to say about the game.
Sanders discussed the loss at length, and when asked about his performance, he left a key position group out to dry.
“How many times did Raiola get touched?” Sanders asked. “How many times did Raiola get touched? Of course, whenever you’re able to run the ball consistently, then it opens up the pass, but you gotta understand what your team’s good at. Why would we run the ball if we get out there when it’s a must-have situation, and we don’t get it?”
While Sanders and the Buffs were riding high headed into Week 2 after a statement win over North Dakota State, Week 2 was a significantly different story. The Buffaloes were outmatched and outgunned against Nebraska and wound up losing 28-10.
Colorado’s offense was kept under wraps despite their large Week 1 performance. Sanders followed up his 452-yard passing display by going 23-28 for 244 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. On the opposite side of the field, Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola was special. While the numbers didn’t align with a massive outing through the air, his control of the offense showed maturity beyond his years.
Sanders finished his thoughts by saying, “If we’re going down, I’d rather go down swinging.”
Sanders and the Buffaloes will have to bounce back in Week 3 on Saturday, September 14th, at 6:30 p.m. CT vs. Colorado State.
