Which Big 12 Athlete Has Best Odds to Win the Wooden Award in 2024-25?

Big 12 Basketball Player.

On Tuesday, BetOnline released their first look at odds for who will win the Wooden Award in the 2024-25 season.

Eight athletes from the Big 12, representing six different teams, are currently receiving better than 50-1 odds to win the honor.

The Big 12’s best shot to win the award in the eyes of BetOnline resides in Kansas center Hunter Dickinson, who is currently receiving 5-1 odds (+500).

Following Dickinson on the list is Kansas’ AJ Storr at 16-1 (+1600), Houston‘s LJ Cryer at 20-1 (+2000), Baylor‘s VJ Edgecombe at 33-1 (+3300), Arizona‘s Caleb Love at 40-1 (+4000), Kansas’ Zeke Mayo at 40-1 (+4000), Iowa State‘s Tamin Lipsey at 45-1 (+4500), and Kansas State‘s Coleman Hawkins at 50-1 (+5000).

Dickinson took home the honor of Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year in 2023 after transferring to Kansas from Michigan. Other than Baylor’s VJ Edgecombe and Iowa State’s Tamin Lipsey, the other six names mentioned with +5000 odds or better have all transferred to their current program.

Lipsey is entering his third season in Ames and has quickly become one of the Big 12’s most feared guards. Edgecombe, however, is the lone incoming freshman of anyone on the list, heading to Baylor as the nation’s fifth-ranked prospect.

While each player on the list would have to post some incredible numbers to find themselves in the conversation for the Wooden Award, with the Big 12 housing the nation’s best college basketball players on a yearly basis, it would not be shocking to see the award winner come out of the Big 12.
