Big 12 Football Superstar Named AP National Player of the Week

Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan has been named the National Player of the Week by the Associated Press (AP) after a monster performance against New Mexico in Week 1.

The 6-foot-5, 212-pound junior from Waimanalo, Hawaii was an unstoppable force against the Lobos, notching ten catches for 304 yards and four touchdowns in a 61-39 win on Saturday.

McMillan’s 304-yard performance set a new school record at Arizona and earned him both AP National Player of the Week and Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honors. This was McMillan’s fifth straight game with 100-plus receiving yards and the first 300-yard receiving game in the FBS since Ohio State’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba amassed 347 against Utah in the 2022 Rose Bowl.

According to a release from Arizona, McMillan became the first player in FBS history to have a game with 10-plus receptions, 300-plus receiving yards, 30.0-plus yards per reception, and 4-plus receiving TDs.

The performance puts T-Mac at the top of the early list of candidates for the Belitnickoff Award, presented annually to the nation’s top wide receiver.

McMillan and the Wildcats will face Northern Arizona this week before things get much more interesting, with Kansas State and Utah coming up after that.
