Watch: CBS Announcers Question Deion Sanders’ Decision Late vs. Colorado State

NCAA Football: Colorado Spring Game

With Colorado leading Colorado State 28-9 late in the game on Saturday night, Colorado star QB Shedeur Sanders was still in the game and heaving the ball down the field.

And CBS announcers Rich Waltz and Ross Tucker took notice.

After Sanders’ attempt sailed wide right on a 4th and 6 from Colorado State’s 34-yard line, Tucker commented, “I mean he [Sanders] just took another hit from a D-tackle.” Waltz responded, “It makes no sense. It’s a long season. They’ve got Baylor next week, they’re into the Big 12.”

Tucker added, “They are fortunate that this wasn’t a bigger hit. This is a 305-poudn defensive tackle going right near his throwing arm. Could you imagine what we would be saying all week if Shedeur Sanders got his throwing arm hit in a game when they’re up 19 and they could have just taken a knee? I have not seen many teams in my life, in the NFL or FBS football do that. It’s a very interesting choice.”

Luckily for Colorado, there were no injuries as they left with the 28-9 victory over the Rams.

Maybe Sanders was trying to run up the score against Jay Norvell, since there is no love lost between these two. But regardless, it’s risky from Deion.

During the game, Travis Hunter showed why he’s one of the most-hyped players in all of college football on Saturday night. The two-way player had himself a big game receiving and a big game on the defensive side of the ball.

Travis Hunter finished with 13 catches for 100 yards, including a two-yard touchdown pass from Shedeur Sanders, and then a 21-yard touchdown grab in the fourth quarter to make it a 27-3 lead.

Colorado opens up Big 12 play at home vs. Baylor next week.
