Iowa State men’s basketball announced the promotions of Erik Crawford and Stevie Taylor to assistant coaches, according to a release from the University.
Both assistants served in administrative roles prior to the promotion by head coach T.J. Otzelberger.
Specifically, Crawford’s role was the director of player development, whereas Taylor was his assistant in that role.
Otzelberger said in a statement, “Erick has been an unbelievable resource for the young men in our program. He has created tremendous value in improving our guy’s perimeter shooting and designing a plan of attack to be successful offensively. He has been a terrific asset to our coaching staff and program.”
On the other hand, regarding the addition of Taylor, the head coach mentioned, “Stevie has worked countless hours with our guys in the player development department and their skill development, putting time into their game.”
ISU was one of the best teams in the country last season, finishing 29-8, but the team fell to Illinois in the Sweet 16.
The team was paced by guard Keshon Gilbert who averaged 13.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game in 2023-24, while point guard Tamin Lipsey led the team in assists with 4.9 per outing.
