Welcome to Fact or Fiction Friday. Each Friday, I give our Facebook and message board fans an opportunity to ask the most intriguing questions in the Big 12 Conference, and I will tell you whether they come true or if they are set to fail. crack it open and see what we have in store this week.

The ACC Implodes At The End Of The Year And The Big 12 Adds 6-8 Schools

Fiction: As much as I would love for this to be true, I just don’t see the lawsuits between Florida State/Clemson and the ACC getting resolved by the time December comes around. One of the reasons is because both those schools have by August 15th to notify the ACC if they plan to leave by the 2025-26 academic year. There are just too many moving parts or parts that aren’t moving fast enough, I should say, that are standing in the way of that. Do I think the ACC will implode at some point? Yes, but not this year. And when that happens, the Big 12 will make a move.

There Will Be Another Chapter Written In The Book Of The Holy War

Fact: Forgive me, for I am new to the Holy War like most other Big 12 fans, but I am sure that this rivalry game will have a chapter every year. I think I speak for most people when I say that I am so glad to have the Holy War in the Big 12, and the fact that it will be a conference game moving forward is very exciting. I would have loved to tell people five years ago that Utah and BYU would be playing every year in the Big 12 and see their reactions. Anyways, welcome to America’s conference!

Arizona, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, UCF, Utah, and West Virginia Can All Make A Big 12 Title Run

Fact: Every team that was mentioned was in my preseason top eight. Do some teams have a better chance than others? Absolutely, but it wouldn’t shock me at all to see any of these eight teams in Arlington playing for a Big 12 title. This is the deepest conference in all of college football and for my fellow gamblers out there, good luck trying to place bets on Big 12 games because it’s almost impossible at times. Move over March Madness; this is Fall Madness.

Utah Will Roll Over The Big 12

Fiction: As someone who has Utah winning the Big 12 this season, I have plenty of respect for the Utes. They have an outstanding defense, and with a healthy Cam Rising at quarterback, the sky is the limit for this team. However, this isn’t just some conference that is going to roll over for teams. You are going to get everyone’s best week in and week out. I just mentioned earlier that there are eight teams that wouldn’t surprise me if they made it to Arlington. That’s how deep this conference is, and while Utah will likely be one of those teams playing for a Big 12 title, I think they will slip up in at least one game this season during conference play.

The Big 12 Will Get Two Teams Into The Playoff

Fiction: I would love for this to happen, but I am also a realist. In fact, I wrote about this topic earlier this week in my non-conference schedule article if you check it out on the site. The only way the Big 12 is getting two teams in the playoff is with the conference champion, of course, but also a one-loss team. However, it can’t just be any one-loss team. It would have to be a team that goes 12-0 in the regular season and suffers their first loss in the Big 12 title game. That’s the only way that the Big 12 would get two teams in. Now if we had SEC or Big Ten logos on our jerseys, then my answer would change.
