Saint Louis Adds Former West Virginia Guard Kobe Johnson

Former West Virginia guard Kobe Johnson announced earlier this week that he has committed to Saint Louis for his final year of eligibility.

In three seasons with the Mountaineers, Johnson appeared in 92 games and made 34 starts. He finished the 2023-24 season averaging 6.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.

Johnson shot 42.6% from the floor and 27.7% from three while also ranking second on the team in assists and fourth in free throw percentage (78.9%).

In a win over Jacksonville State University on Nov. 14, 2023, Johnson dropped a season-high 19 points while adding six rebounds and five assists.

Saint Louis is coming off a rough 2024 season as the Billikens placed 13th in the A-10 with an overall record of 13-20. SLU made it to the second round of the A-10 Conference Tournament before losing to Duquesne.

Johnson is one of seven former Mountaineers to enter the transfer portal this offseason, joining guards Seth Wilson, Kerr Kriisa, and Jeremiah Bembry and forwards Patrick Suemnick, Josiah Harris, and Ali Ragab.

He helped West Virginia reach the 2023 NCAA Tournament as a No. 9 seed before the Mountaineers bowed out to Maryland in the Round of 64.
