Auburn and Houston Agree to Two-Year, Neutral-Site Series

NCAA Basketball: Houston at Texas

The Houston men’s basketball team has scheduled a two-year, neutral-site series with the Auburn Tigers. The first matchup will take place on Nov. 9 at the Toyota Center, according to Jon Rothstein.

In the 2025-26 season, the second game between both programs will take place at Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama.

This game will be part of a doubleheader that also includes a battle between Florida State and Rice.

Both teams faced off against each other in the second round of the 2023 National Tournament, with the Cougars defeating Auburn 81-64.

Houston leads the all-time series 7-1 and is currently on a six-game win streak. The program also won the Big 12 regular season title in 2023-24 and finished with an overall record of 32-5.

The Cougars are expected to be on top of the Big 12 once again next season, even after All-American point guard Jamal Shead left for the NBA Draft, where he was selected by the Toronto Raptors.

Shead was one of the best two-way players in all of college basketball, averaging 6.3 assists and 2.2 steals per game. Meanwhile, guard L.J. Cryer led the team in scoring at 15.5 points per game.

Auburn went 21-13 last season while going 10-8 in SEC play, which earned them a No. 4 seed in March Madness.
