Brenen Thompson Transfers from Texas to Oklahoma

The Oklahoma Sooners have added a ton of speed to their wide receiver room with the addition of Brenen Thompson.

Thompson began his career with the Texas Longhorns, but entered the portal and is now heading to the other side of the Red River, with three years of eligibility for the wide out.

Thompson played in nine games for the Longhorns last season, but only caught one pass. The 2022 four-star wide receiver from the Texas Panhandle (Spearman), was a Top 20 wide receiver in the nation, according to the 247Sports composite.

Thompson is known for his blazing speed. In high school, he won the Texas 3A 200-meter title (21.27) as a junior in May 2021, while also earning silver in the 100 (10.40).

According to SI Sooners, Thompson is believed to the be the second player in modern history to transfer across the Red River. The late Paul Moriarty, who passed away in 2018, was the first, as first reported by OU Insider’s Parker Thune. Moriarty began his career at UT in 1988 and played for OU in 1992-93 and, according to his obituary, was “the only football player to play for both universities.”

But in the new world of the transfer portal and NIL, this should no longer be surprising.
