Texas Tech, Texas A&M Agree to Nonconference Matchup in 2024

Once the agreement is finalized, the Texas Tech men’s basketball team will take on Texas A&M at Dickie’s Arena in Forth Worth on Dec. 8, per Jon Rothstein.

This battle is one of four scheduled, including another men’s game and two women’s college basketball games.

College Hoops Today reports that these two teams were originally supposed to play this season in a home-and-home series, but that has been postponed to a later date.

 

This matchup will be the 125th time these teams play against each other with the Red Raiders leading the all-time series 64-60.

Texas Tech is coming off an impressive 2023-24 campaign, finishing 23-11 which placed them third in the Big 12.

The Red Raiders were led by guard Pop Isaacs, who averaged 15.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists, along with point guard Joe Toussaint, as he added 12.2 points, 4.3 assists, and 1.4 steals per game.

Meanwhile, the Aggies placed seventh in the SEC, going 21-15, but the team still reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to Houston.

Guard Wade Taylor IV was 57th in the country in scoring with 19.1 points per contest and he led Texas A&M to several upset wins against Kentucky and Tennessee.
