Week 7 Big 12 Football Picks Against the Spread
College football is back and that means our Big 12 football picks against the spread are also returning with Week 7 getting underway! The Big 12 is finally fully into conference play. We are looking to have a bounce-back week after the Big 12 picks went 1-2-1 against the spread last week and are now 21-17-2 against the spread this season.
Here we go with Week 7!
Baylor vs. West Virginia
The Baylor Bears have never won in Morgantown since WVU joined the Big 12 Conference 10 years ago. Meantime, WVU coach Neal Brown comes into this game desperately needing a defining win to keep a fan base that is getting sick of the mediocrity at bay. Also, Baylor’s line play has not been as good as expected. The Bears rank last in the Big 12 in sacks and is 7th in the Big 12 in sacks given up. Also, expect rain on Thursday night in Morgantown. We’ve got a close game on our ends.
The Pick: West Virginia +4 (buy 1/2 point)
Kansas vs. Oklahoma
The Jayhawks travel to Oklahoma with QB Jalon Daniels likely not playing, while the Sooners are expected to get back their quarterback Dillon Gabriel. However, Jason Bean exceeded expectations as the back up for KU last week. Also, Kansas ranks third in the Big 12 in rushing offense, while Oklahoma’s rushing defense is the worst in the Big 12, giving up more than 65 yards per game more than any other team in the league. Also, Oklahoma ranks second-worst in the Big 12 in sacks given up, while Kansas is tied for the lead in sacks. Take away the name on the front of the jersey and this line doesn’t make sense.
The Pick: Kansas +9
Iowa State vs. Texas
This feels like a trap game for Texas with Oklahoma State on deck, which will start four-straight game against ranked teams. Meantime, Iowa State has owned this series as of late, winning the last three games, including last season’s 30-7 victory. Matt Campbell gets his guys up for the Longhorns. Iowa State’s defense has been outstanding this year, and while the offense is concerning, I think they’ll get something going against UT, at least enough to cover this huge spread.
The Pick: Iowa State +16.5
Oklahoma State vs. TCU
Oklahoma State is a road warrior. The Pokes are 7-0 against the spread in their last seven road games. They come into this game needed to stop a TCU rushing offense that is second in the Big 12, but the Pokes have been good against the run, allowing only 3.3 yards per carry, good for third in the league. And OSU’s passing offense has been great, ranking second in the league, while TCU has had a surprisingly tough time stopping the pass, giving up the third-most passing yards in the Big 12. I’ll take OSU on the road to cover.
The Pick: Oklahoma State +3.5
