Texas Tech Baseball Star Gavin Kash Enters Transfer Portal

An incredibly disappointing baseball season in Lubbock (Tex.) just got even worse in hindsight, as Texas Tech baseball star Gavin Kash has entered the transfer portal, according to D1Baseball’s Kendall Rogers.

After serving as the Red Raiders’ best player over the last two seasons, Kash takes an incredible amount of talent and production with him and will likely be the hottest player available on the open market.

In two seasons with TTU, Kash totaled 41 home runs and 135 RBIs—both of which led all Texas Tech players—while also maintaining a .314 batting average.

Kash was a unanimous All-Big 12 Selection in 2023 and made appearances on several preseason All-American lists after smashing 26 home runs and collecting 84 RBIs last season.

To make matters worse, Kash is also joined by Landon Stripling in entering the portal. Stripling, a freshman from Parkview HS in Lawrenceville, Ga., appeared in 33 games making 24 starts in 2024. He maintained an average of .253 in his first season as a contributor and had four home runs and 20 RBIs.

Texas Tech went just 33-26 in 2024 and had a Big 12 record of 12-18 on the year. An offseason that already looked to be challenging is now even worse for Tim Tadlock, as the question marks are starting to pile up.
