While Steve Lutz and the Oklahoma State Cowboys have had a slow offseason since the coaching change in Stillwater, the team is hosting a four-star forward in the Class of 2024 on an official visit.
Sammie Yeanay, a former Arizona State commit, announced his plans to reopen his recruitment on May 29th, which allowed the Cowboys to jump into the race for the Arizona native.
After electing to decomit from ASU, Yeanay became the second-ranked uncommitted player in the Class of 2024, trailing four-star shooting guard Jamari Phillips.
Coming out of Compass Prep High School in the Class of 2024, Yeanay is listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 89th-ranked player. He also checks in as the 18th-ranked player at his position and the fifth-ranked player in the state of Arizona.
Should the Arizona native commit to OSU, he would become the squad’s first addition in the Class of 2024, following news of three-star guard Jeremiah Johnson re-opening his recruitment.
While Yeanay would certainly be a nice pickup for Steve Luts and company, the Cowboys’ new head coach still has a long way to go in order to field a complete roster in his first season of Big 12 Basketball.
