TCU Adds Commitment from LSU Transfer Hailey Van Lith
On the same day that Haley Cavinder announced her intentions to leave TCU, the Horned Frogs picked up another addition from the portal, and she’s got an even bigger following than Cavinder, who’s got north of 840K followers on Instagram.
According to Talia Goodman of The Next, TCU has landed a commitment from women’s basketball superstar Hailey Van Lith.
Van Lith, who spent last season playing alongside Angel Reese at LSU, has a whopping 1.1 million followers on Instagram and endorsement deals with Adidas and Fanatics.
But HVL isn’t just famous on Instagram. No, this is a huge addition for the Horned Frogs basketball team for what Van Lith has shown she can do on the court.
Van Lith is a member of the USA U24 roster for the 2023 FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series and has had incredible success representing the Red, White, and Blue.
She was named the 2019 FIBA 3×3 U18 World Cup MVP, the 2018 USA Basketball 3×3 U18 National Championship MVP and has won gold medals at the 2023 FIBA 3×3 World Cup, 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup, 2019 FIBA 3×3 U18 World Cup, 2018 Youth Olympic Games, 2018 FIBA U17 World Cup (all per USAB.com).
During her first three seasons at Louisville, Van Lith became a household name amongst women’s basketball fans as she would lead the Cardinals to three NCAA Tournament appearances and a Final Four appearance in 2022. That season, Van Lith would earn All-ACC Honors and AP Honorable Mention All-American honors after averaging 19.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.2 assists while shooting 41.1% from the field.
Van Lith was one of two Power-Five Players (Caitlin Clark) to average at least 19 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists per game for the 2022-23 season before she transferred to LSU and changed positions.
This past season, Van Lith saw big drops in several statistical categories, including points (11.6 ppg), rebounds (2.4 rpg) and field goal percentage (37.8%).
Now, Van Lith hopes to finish up her collegiate career with a big year for the Horned Frogs before realizing her dreams of playing at the professional level.
