Former Kansas State Center Taylor Lauterbach Transfers to Virginia
Ex-Kansas State Wildcats center Taylor Lauterbach has found her next stop. She’s transferred to Virginia, the program announced Thursday.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Taylor into our family,” said Cavaliers head coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton. “Taylor is a high-academic student-athlete committed to the grind on and off the court. She is a hard-working high-character kid who is tall, long, and mobile. She can block and alter shots in the paint. She also has great hands and can catch and score, as well as shoot the 15-foot/three-point shot. Her potential is off the charts! I am excited that she has two years to develop under our tutelage. Her future is bright!”
A 6-foot-7 center from Appleton, Wisc., Lauterbach played for three seasons in Manhattan. She saw action in total 75 games with the Wildcats. That included 20 this past season, five starts, as she recorded 25 points (1.3 ppg) on 9-of-29 (.310) shooting.
Lauterbach garnered a spot on the 2022 Academic All-Big 12 first team. In May 2022, she also competed in the Red Bull USA Basketball 3x Nationals, with her team earning third place in the Pool B standings.
In the prep ranks before that, she was a Top 100 prospect coming out of Appleton West High. She ranked 12th at her position for the class of 2020, per ESPNW’s HoopGurlz.
