With the spring season coming to a close, On3’s Jesse Simonton released his “2024 Post-Spring Big 12 Power Rankings.”

Utah ranked first after a strong outing last year, finishing 8-5 in its last season competing in the Pac 12, even with star quarterback Cam Rising missing the entire season due to injury.

With Rising on pace to return to the starting lineup, On3 predicts that the Utes have the strongest roster in the Big 12 after a busy offseason.

Head coach Kyle Whittingham added several three-star transfers including Paul Fitzgerald (Utah State), Damien Alford (Syracuse), Dorian Singer (USC), and Cameron Calhoun (Michigan).

Following the Utes is Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Arizona, and Kansas to round out the top five. Oklahoma State brings back Heisman candidate Ollie Gordon II, who ran for 1,732 yards last season, along with 21 touchdowns.

Kansas is coming off a 9-4 campaign, marking its best season in over a decade, while Arizona is expected to make some noise in its first season competing in the Big 12.

After KU, comes West Virginia and Iowa State. The Mountaineers shocked the college football world in 2023, capping off a 9-4 season with a bowl win over North Carolina.

With quarterback Garrett Greene and head coach Neal Brown returning for WVU, expectations are very high in Morgantown.

Texas Tech, TCU, Colorado, Baylor, Cincinnati, BYU, and Arizona State closed out the rest of the rankings.
