Baylor vs. Utah Sees Huge Early Line Movement

NCAA Football: Utah at Baylor

Baylor and Utah meet in Week 2 of the college football season in Salt Lake City. It’s a meeting between two Big 12 teams, but it is not being played as a Big 12 Conference game because both teams agreed to play each other long before it was a possibility that the Utes and Bears would be in the same conference. Rather than force both teams into a tough spot to find a replacement game, they elected to move forward with this one, however it will not count against the Big 12 standings.

That being said, it will be a great test for both teams, since they each dismantled their FCS foes in Week 1. Utah beat Southern Utah 49-0 and Baylor beat Tarleton State 45-3.

But when the line came out on Sunday, there was immediate movement in favor of one of these two teams.

Baylor opened up as a 17-point underdog in Salt Lake City, but 90% of the wagers taken came in on the Bears, which pushed the line as low as 14.5 points with some sportsbooks.

Depending on your book, the line has moved 1.5-2 points in favor of Baylor.

For those curious, the over/under hasn’t budged, opening at 53 and remaining at 53 in most sportsbooks. A couple have shifted up to 53.5.

This is likely more of a testament to how Baylor looked in its opener, rather than anything to do against Utah.

Last season, these two teams met in Waco and Utah hung on for a 20-13 victory. Granted, Baylor did not have to face Cam Rising last year because he was still sidelined with an ACL injury suffered in the prior year’s Rose Bowl.

No. 12 Utah hosts Baylor at 2:30 CST on Saturday, September 7th on FOX.
