Kansas State Hosting Two Major Transfer Portal Targets on Wednesday

NCAA Basketball: Kansas at Kansas State

Jerome Tang and the Kansas State Wildcats are not messing around this offseason, as the team is set to host two top players in the transfer portal on Wednesday.

Rutgers center Clifford Omoruyi and Arkansas guard Khalif Battle will visit Kansas State together on Wednesday, April 24th. On3’s Joe Tipton first reported news of the visits.

Clifford Omoruyi generated interest from a number of teams in the transfer portal this offseason after posting some incredible numbers during his senior season. The senior center averaged nearly a double-double, with 10.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in his fourth season of college basketball. On April 16th, the Wildcats were one of 12 teams listed in Omoruyi’s cutdown list.

Coming out of high school in the Class of 2020, Omoruyi was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 51st-ranked player. He also checked in as the 12th-ranked player at his position and the fifth-ranked player in the state of New Jersey.

Khalif Battle, a 6-foot-5 senior from New Jersey, is one of the best scorers available in the transfer portal. The New Jersey native posted 14.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game on 40.6% shooting from the field as a fifth-year senior in 2023-24. Evidence of Battle’s incredible scoring ability can be seen in his final seven games of the season, where he averaged 29.5 points per game.

Battle was listed as a four-star prospect in the Class of 2019 and was labeled the nation’s 99th-ranked player by the 247Sports index. He also checked in as the 16th-ranked player at his position and the fourth-ranked player in the state of New Jersey.

While the Wildcats may not have had the season they envisioned in Jerome Tang’s second year with the program, Kansas State’s staff is doing everything they can to field a championship roster in 2024-25.
