According to a report from 247Sports, Colorado running back Dylan Edwards is set to enter the transfer portal after spending one season in Boulder.

One has to wonder if Deion Sanders and company are still “good” after losing the Buffaloes’ leading rusher in 2023. Edwards’ portal entry makes it 20 players exiting the CU program.

Edwards was expected to be a major piece of Colorado’s offensive attack next season after totaling 520 yards and five touchdowns as a true freshman last season.

Coming out of Derby (Kan.), Edwards was the No. 100 overall recruit and the No. 3 running back in the Class of 2023, according to Rivals. He was also ranked as the top player in the state of Kansas.

Edwards, listed at 5-foot-9, 170 pounds, is the closest thing to Deuce Vaughn that you’ll find in college football right now, with incredible speed and agility and enough versatility to build an offensive around.

As such, Kansas State immediately comes to mind in this situation, as Edwards was previously committed to the Wildcats before eventually signing with Colorado.

Edwards’ entry into the portal comes after the Buffaloes added Ohio State transfer running back Dallan Hayden. In two seasons with the Buckeyes, Hayden averaged 5.1 yards per carry on 130 attempts and scored six touchdowns.

The former Colorado running back will immediately become one of the hottest names in the transfer portal and is sure to garner attention from every runningback-needy program in the Power Four.
