BYU Forward Noah Waterman Enters Transfer Portal
Kevin Young and the BYU Cougars are losing a key player to the transfer portal, with senior forward Noah Waterman departing the program.
Waterman, a 6-foot-11 forward from New York, started his career at Detroit Mercy before transferring to BYU as a junior.
Despite the transfer portal entry deadline set for May 1st, Waterman entered the transfer portal on Monday, which was the last date for BYU players to enter due to the coaching change of Mark Pope departing for Kentucky. As a senior in 2023, the New York native averaged 9.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 0.7 assists in 2.1 minutes played. In addition to his impressive numbers, Waterman was also an efficient scorer, connecting on 45.7% percent of shots from the field and 37% from three.
With the basketball transfer portal officially closing on May 1st, Waterman is a late addition to the group that should command many suitors in the portal. Throughout his four years of college basketball, Watwerman is shooting a blistering 3.9.9% from three-point land.
With his decision to enter the portal, BYU has now seen five contributors and depth pieces hit the portal, including Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year Jaxson Robinson, Atiki Ally Atiki, ALY Khalifa, and Marcus Adams Jr. Richie Saunders and Dallin Hall entered the portal following the news of Mark Pope accepting the Kentucky job, but removed their names from the portal and will return to BYU in 2024-25.
With yet another departure for the transfer portal this offseason, new head coach Kevin Young will have another roster spot to fill ahead of his first season in Provo.
