TCU Women’s Basketball Games vs. K-State, Iowa State Canceled

NCAA Basketball: Oklahoma State at Texas Tech

As the Big 12 announced on Wednesday morning, TCU women’s basketball games against No. 7 Kansas State (January 17) and at No. 24 Iowa State (January 20) have been canceled as the Horned Frogs do not have enough available players to participate in the contests.

This is just the latest in a string of bad news for the Lady Horned Frogs, as the program announced that point guard Jaden Owens tore her ACL and meniscus and will miss the remainder of the 2023-24 season.

TCU (14-4, 1-4 Big 12) was set to host Kansas State at Schollmaier Arena on Wednesday but will now have to forfeit the game, per Big 12 Conference rules.

“Per Conference rule, the member institution unable to field a team will forfeit the contest if no extraordinary circumstances exist,” a Big 12 press release reads.

As a result of the forfeitures, both Kansas State and Iowa State will gain a win in conference play, while TCU will drop to 1-6 in Big 12 play. However, it’s worth noting that the overall records for each team involved in the forfeited games will not be impacted, per NCAA policy.

Granted that they can get healthy enough to do so, the TCU women will be back in action against UCF on Tuesday, January 23, before hitting the road to take on Texas Tech on Saturday, January 27.
