REPORT: Texas, UConn Hoops Finalizing Home-and-Home Series in 2024-25 and 2025-26

NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament First Round-Texas vs Colorado State

According to a report from CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, the Texas Longhorns and Connecticut Huskies are finalizing an agreement to play a massive home-and-home series over the next two seasons.

On Tuesday, Rothstein reported that Texas and UConn will play in Austin (Tex.) in 2024-25 with the return game in Storrs (Conn.) coming during the 2025-26 season.

While these teams won’t be battling in a Big 12 clash, it should be one of the most exciting nonconference games of the year, and plenty of folks will certainly be tuned in.

“UConn and Texas are finalizing a home-and-home series that will begin next season in Austin, multiple sources told College Hoops Today. There is no timetable on an official announcement,” Rothstein wrote. “There will be a return game at UConn during the 2025-26 season. Official dates and times are also TBD.”

The Huskies are coming off back-to-back national championships, becoming just the seventh school in NCAA men’s basketball history to do so and the first since Florida did it in 2006-07.

Meanwhile, Texas has made back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances under Rodney Terry and made a run to the Elite Eight in 2022-23. This past season, Texas fell in the second round to Tennessee.

When they take the court next winter, both teams will look very different from what we saw this past season, but with Rodney Terry and Dan Hurley running the respective programs, these teams should be very competitive once again.
