Kansas Women’s Basketball Extends Head Coach Brandon Schneider

Brandon Schneider

On Thursday, the University of Kansas announced that Brandon Schneider, the women’s basketball head coach, has signed a two-year extension that will keep him through the 2027-28 season.

Schneider just completed his ninth season in Lawrence and led the Jayhawks to a 20-13 record this past season. KU reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament as a No. 8 seed before losing to USC.

Kansas placed seventh in the Big 12 with a conference record of 11-7.

KU had multiple wins against top 10 opponents including No. 4 Baylor and No. 10 Kansas State, and put together one of the best home records in the nation with a 13-1 record at Allen Fieldhouse.

The Jayhawks have finished with a winning record in three-straight seasons and won the Women’s National Invitational Tournament in 2022.

After finishing the 2020-21 season with a 7-18 record, Schneider turned things around quickly in Lawrence as KU went 21-10 the following season. This marked the program’s largest win improvement in two seasons.

Star center Taiyanna Jackson was selected in the second round of the 2024 WNBA Draft to the Connecticut Sun and freshman guard S’Mya Nichols led the team in scoring assists with 15.4 points and 2.7 assists per game.
