TJ Otzelberger and the Iowa State Cyclones added a big name to the Class of 2025 on Monday afternoon with the commitment of four-star shooting guard Jamarion Batemon.
Batemon, a 6-foot-3 guard from Wisconsin, chose the Cyclones over West Virginia, Marquette, and Clemson.
Coming out of Milwaukee Academy Of Science in the Class of 2025, Batemon is listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 54th-ranked prospect. He also checks in as the ninth-ranked player at his position and the second-ranked player in the state of Wisconsin.
“I just felt that [Iowa State] was the right place and the right fit,” Batemon told On3’s Joe Tipton. “They fit my competitive nature, and I love their environment. They were very consistent in showing what they wanted. They were at every live period, came to workouts and practices to show their commitment.”
Batemon was one of the biggest risers in the latest update to 247Sports’ player rankings, jumping from the No. 148 spot to No. 55.
247Sports’ Travis Branham spoke on the jump for Manarion Batemon, saying, “Batemon rose the ranks due to his combination of athleticism, toughness, and scoring ability. Batemon is a fearless competitor who has an endless amount of confidence on the court. He keeps his foot on the gas pedal, giving him tremendous gravity anytime the ball is in his hands. Batemon is one you can’t let get hot because he can drill shots and score in bunches.”
With his commitment, Batemon became the third player to join the Cyclones in their 2025 recruiting class, alongside four-star SF Xzavion Mitchell and three-star point guard Mecari Moore.
