Four-star guard Jamarion Batemon became Iowa State’s third commitment from the Class of 2025, joining three-star prospects Xzavion Mitchell and Macari Moore.
Batemon chose the Cyclones over Clemson, Marquette, and West Virginia, as On3 ranks the 6-foot-3 shooting guard as the No. 51 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle.
The Milwaukee native was also ranked as the 11th-best shooting guard in his class.
The rising senior will play his last season of college basketball at Milwaukee Academy of Science.
In the 2023-24 season, Iowa State finished second in the Big 12 with an overall record of 29-8 with the team’s season coming to an end in the Sweet 16 round against Illinois.
Heading into the 2024-25 season, head coach T.J. Otzelberger has been active in the transfer portal, securing commitments from Saint Mary’s Joshua Jefferson, Charlotte’s Dishon Jackson, Northern Iowa’s Nate Heise, as well as Seattle’s Brandton Chatfield.
The Cyclones were led by Keshon Gilbert (13.7 PPG), along with Tamin Lipsey (12.4 PPG), while forward Tre King led the squad in rebounding with 5.3 boards, meanwhile Lipsey ranked 54th in the country in assists with 4.9 per game.
Iowa State had several top 15 victories against No. 1 Houston, No. 7 Kansas, and No. 14 Baylor.
