Jerome Tang and the Kansas State Wildcats have had an incredible offseason, adding multiple big-name players to their 2024-25 roster through the transfer portal.
The latest addition, former Illinois wing Coleman Hawkins, helped propel the Wildcats to the No. 2 spot in college basketball statistician Evan Maya’s transfer portal activity rankings.
The Wildcats headline seven Big 12 teams on Miya’s list, including Kansas at No. 10, Baylor at No. 11, Texas Tech at No. 15, West Virginia at No. 16, Iowa State at No. 22, and Cincinnati at No. 23.
While Kansas State checks in among the Top 20 on both 247Sports (No. 12) and On3 (No. 17), Evan Miya’s rankings list evaluates the quality of incoming additions compared to the quality of outgoing transfers, which puts the Wildcats at No. 2 behind Rick Pitino and St. John’s.
K-State brought in eight commits in the portal, including Illinois’ Coleman Hawkins (No. 17), Michigan’s Dug McDaniel (No. 33), Samford’s Achor Achor (No. 82), Kentucky’s Ugonna Onyenso (No. 122), Villanova’s Brendan Hausen (No. 175), Arkansas’ Baye Fall (No. 213), Cal State Fullerton’s Max Jones (No. 356), and UIC’s CJ Jones (No. 647).
The Big 12 Conference is the best basketball conference in America for a reason, and with teams like Kansas State continuing to revamp their roster through the transfer portal, the 2024-25 season should be a spectacular experience for fans of college basketball.
