The Texas Tech Red Raiders added a big name to their 2024 class of incoming freshmen with the commitment of four-star wide receiver, Tyson Turner.

Turner is one of the most athletic players in the class of 2024, and with his commitment to Texas Tech, the Red Raiders beat out 14 other schools including Boston College, Tulane, and Utah.

Turner is listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index, as well as the nation’s 309th-ranked prospect. He also checks in as the 25th-ranked athlete in the class of 2024, and the 53rd-ranked prospect in the state of Texas.

The young prospect also runs track at Bryan high school and placed third as a junior at the May 2023 Texas 6A high jump finals with a 6-6. He then won a regional championship with a 6-10 personal record in the high jump. Outside of his leaping ability, Turner also ran a 15.23 110-meter hurdles time and qualified for regionals in the 300-meter hurdles (39.35 PR).

Turner steps on campus in 2024, with a chance to watch his future team when they take on the Wyoming Cowboys on September 2nd to kick off the 2023 season. Head coach Joey McGuire continues to land big-name prospects earning the Red Raiders some much-needed praise with player recuitment.
